Down n' Dirty Field Guides was first envisioned by a frustrated landscape designer & contractor who grew tired of roaming the web looking for pertinent and up-to-date information regarding the specific profession of landscape professionals.

Gail Dresner collected links, downloaded documents, started files, put together notebooks try try and get a handle on the best, most current information available on how to manage a successful landscaping business. None of these solutions worked PLUS they were a pain to keep up (which she didn't) resulting in wasted time, printouts and money.

While working with her landscape interns, Gail found it even more frustrating to provide them with valuable information to setup and run their own businesses. There were lots of books about starting a new business but none really addressed the landscape business in particular.
